Lithuania, Latvia, Estonia, Poland, Finland, Germany, Romania, and Sweden have appealed to European Council President António Costa and European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen, requesting to restrict entry to the Schengen Zone for individuals who participated in combat as part of the Russian army.

Lithuanian President Gitanas Nausėda emphasized that the movement of such individuals could pose serious and long-term security threats to all EU member states. He called for urgent, decisive, and coordinated actions to prevent potential negative consequences.
