Liu emphasized that Greenland is under the jurisdiction of Denmark—a U.S. NATO ally. Any military action against the territory without Congressional approval would violate U.S. law.
The Congressman addressed members of the Air Force, Navy, Marine Corps, and other branches of the U.S. Armed Forces, stressing: “Greenland is part of Denmark, a NATO ally. If Trump orders the military to attack Greenland without Congress’s approval, that would be an illegal order. You must not follow an illegal order. You swore an oath to the Constitution, not to Trump.”
