Western media report rapes, torture, beheadings, and attacks on civilians. This is stated in a report by the Center for Countering Disinformation.
What is known
It is noted that due to the actions of Russian forces, tens of thousands of civilians have been forced to flee and cross into neighboring countries. This is creating new migration flows that may reach Europe.
Meanwhile, Russian media openly glorify the activities of the “corps,” and the Russian Foreign Ministry claims that its presence in Mali supposedly occurs at the request of the local authorities.
Since 2023, around 5,000 civilians have been killed in Mali, though the real number may be higher. According to various estimates, about 46% of the victims died during attacks involving Russian formations of the Wagner PMC and the “African Corps.”
“Russia, under the guise of friendship, educational and cultural initiatives, is using Africa as an instrument of geopolitical pressure: increasing the dependence of African countries on the Russian Federation, which undermines their sovereignty, provokes radicalization, and tests methods of hybrid warfare,” the statement says.
