In Ukraine, general mobilization and martial law continue, extended until November 5, 2025. Certain categories of citizens have the right to deferment from service, but under certain conditions, this right can be lost.

Who is at risk of losing their deferment:
- Individuals with incorrectly processed military registration documents, incomplete or unrecovered data, as well as those listed as wanted due to technical errors. If they do not use the correction mechanism, their deferment may be canceled.
- Citizens whose deferment period has expired or whose grounds for deferment no longer exist. For example:
- A father of three children who has overdue alimony payments exceeding three months.
- Individuals caring for sick persons, if the dependent has died or the need for care has ended.
- A single father, when his child turns 18.
Where mobilized individuals are sent to serve:
According to lawyer and military justice officer of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Yevhen Fylipts, if a conscript has a military registration specialty, they will serve in that specialty. If they do not have one, the mobilized person is sent for appropriate training. Under martial law, servicemembers can be assigned to positions in new specialties according to the needs of the military, taking into account their acquired skills and experience.
Fitness for service is determined by a Military Medical Commission (MMC) according to the Ministry of Defense Disease Schedule, which establishes whether a person is deemed unfit, fit, or fit for service in the rear.
