Despite constant enemy pressure, the Armed Forces of Ukraine continue to hold the defensive line, destroy occupying forces, and carry out strikes on military targets deep inside Russian territory. This was reported by Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Oleksandr Syrskyi on Facebook.

According to him, these are the key results of Ukraine’s military activity in May, reviewed during the monthly briefing.

He noted that the situation on the front remains difficult and dynamic, while the enemy continues attempts to advance in eastern and southern Ukraine. The most intense fighting is taking place in the Pokrovsk, Oleksandrivsk, and Huliaipole directions.

At the same time, Syrskyi said that Ukrainian Defense Forces maintain initiative in certain sectors of the front. In May, the ratio of liberated to lost territory was about +100 square kilometers in Ukraine’s favor. Overall, more than 600 square kilometers have been liberated since the beginning of the year.

He also reported that drone units struck more than 88,000 targets and neutralized over 30,500 Russian servicemen.

Deep strike systems hit 111 military-industrial, energy, and fuel infrastructure facilities in Russia in May. According to the command’s estimates, the direct and indirect economic losses for the enemy from these strikes amount to about $1.058 billion.

It was also reported that for the first time, a series of strikes was carried out on targets in Moscow and the Moscow region as part of a unified operational plan, which, according to Syrskyi, demonstrates the ability to inflict losses in the enemy’s deep rear.

Separately, it was noted that Ukrainian Navy forces ensured around 1,500 operations to secure civilian shipping, allowing 633 vessels to enter ports in Odesa and the Danube region.

Syrskyi also stressed the need for additional air defense systems and missiles, emphasizing that every intercepted target saves lives.
