Member of the Verkhovna Rada from the “European Solidarity” faction, Sofiya Fedyna, during a parliamentary statement, reminded the authorities of their promise to servicemen and to regulate the issue of military service terms.

The “European Solidarity” faction is also outraged by the removal of 40 billion UAH from the Ministry of Defense budget to a reserve fund, which is spent in a manual mode on populist programs. As is known, for more than four years military pay has not increased, unlike the salaries of officials and security forces.
“Colleagues, look at this photo. It shows Oleksandr Moskaliuk, a serviceman who, from the first day of the full-scale invasion, went to defend the Ukrainian state. An infantryman, which means the hardest positions and the toughest battles. He is currently working in medical evacuation. He has been awarded the ‘Golden Cross’. This is the highest award for infantry and sergeants for heroism on the battlefield and courage in evacuating the wounded,” the MP said.
“Recently he went out to Independence Square, chained and barefoot, demanding that the authorities and the Verkhovna Rada finally pay attention to the issue of service terms for servicemen. He states that they are not slaves of the Ukrainian state, as the authorities consider them to be, but those who defend the state. And they must know that the state not only mobilizes and demands them to perform their work, but they also have the right to recovery, have the right to be with their families, see their children grow up, and have the right to rotation,” Fedyna emphasized.
“He asked to bring these chains to the Verkhovna Rada, but I think that would have touched the sensitive souls of certain individuals who are afraid even to think about solving issues for servicemen. Just like you all collectively silence the theft of forty billion from the army, and in the next bill you will obediently press the green buttons for this theft,” Sofiya Fedyna noted.
“But the issue of service terms is a matter of the survival of the Ukrainian state. Those who have been on the front lines for four years straight cannot properly defend the Ukrainian state anymore. This is moral and physical exhaustion, it is already an inability to adequately respond to various threats,” Fedyna explained.
“We must protect our military and express our respect by ensuring their rights. We submitted draft laws on service terms three years ago. In March 2023, Oleksiy Honcharenko submitted one. In April 2024, we submitted one as the ‘European Solidarity’ faction. The Ministry of Defense and the government have long promised to submit these draft laws. But what do we have? Our initiatives are not being brought forward, while the authorities submit none. Is this how you respect the military? Let’s finally truly protect them,” Sofiya Fedyna urged.
Earlier, the leader of “European Solidarity”, Petro Poroshenko, stated that there is currently a window of opportunity to end the war. The main factor of pressure on Putin is the Armed Forces of Ukraine, therefore all resources must go to the defense forces, Poroshenko insists. He presented his peace plan during a meeting with ambassadors of EU member states.
