Head of the National Police Ivan Vyhivskyi, in an interview with RBC-Ukraine, explained that such situations arise due to the work of joint groups on highways.

According to him, the police act within the powers defined by legislation and Cabinet of Ministers resolutions. At the same time, key decisions regarding the locations of checkpoints, patrol routes, and traffic restrictions are made by the military command.

Vyhivskyi emphasized that these parameters are determined by the commandant, and the police do not set them independently.

Based on orders from the military leadership, special regime measures are introduced, including document checks and temporary traffic restrictions.

The head of the National Police stressed that law enforcement officers play a supporting role within joint patrols and do not make unilateral decisions regarding road closures.

He also acknowledged that such measures may cause inconvenience for drivers, but called for understanding, as they are aimed at ensuring the country’s defense and security.
