🚨 Mass mobilization of police officers could lead to a rise in crime

🚨 Масова мобілізація поліцейських може спричинити сплеск злочинності

Deputy Head of the National Police Andrii Niebytov believes that mass mobilization of law enforcement officers is inappropriate, as it could lead to an increase in crime rates. He said this in an interview with RBC-Ukraine.

According to him, training a criminal police operative or investigator takes a long time — from several months to several years.

“In my opinion, mass mobilization of law enforcement officers will lead to a surge in crime. When patrols become less frequent and response times to calls increase, crime feels the weakness,” Niebytov said.

He also explained that police combat units are formed exclusively from National Police personnel. Civilians who are mobilized are not assigned to such units.

According to him, the issue of personnel shortages in the system is becoming increasingly acute.

Separately, Niebytov emphasized that a significant number of police officers are currently performing combat duties.

“Today, almost 9,000 police officers are performing combat tasks directly on the front line. Another about 34,000 serve in frontline regions,” he added.
