In Uzhhorod, law enforcement officers detained former police officer Ivan Beletskyi and placed him in a vehicle. Earlier, he stated that he lost his job after sharing a video showing employees of the Zakarpattia Territorial Recruitment Center (TRC) humiliating a war veteran in June of this year.

An eyewitness of the incident, Beletskyi’s acquaintance Myroslava Kopynets, reported the abduction on her Facebook page.
Myroslava Kopynets told Suspilne that she accidentally encountered Ivan Beletskyi on Secheni Street, 33. At that moment, eight men came out of a vehicle — six wearing masks and two without, dressed in black shirts and jeans. According to her, when she began recording the event on her phone, the men tried to take the device and struck her hands. She assumed that Beletskyi was taken to the TRC.

Ivan Beletskyi’s wife, Iryna Patskan, confirmed to Suspilne that he was taken to the TRC. According to her, he personally informed her by phone. He underwent a medical examination and was deemed fit, although, as his wife notes, he recently had surgery and had a joint removed.
The Zakarpattia police stated that they received no reports of a person being abducted.
TRC Response
The Zakarpattia TRC reported that Ivan Beletskyi was wanted and had not updated his registration information. He was brought to the district TRC, where he was declared fit for military service after undergoing a medical examination.
“During joint measures to notify citizens of mobilization age, a Ukrainian citizen was identified who was wanted and it was established that he had recently been dismissed from the National Police of Ukraine for violating service discipline and had not fulfilled the obligation under Article 22 of the Law of Ukraine ‘On Mobilization Preparation and Mobilization’ to timely update his registration data. As a result, he was brought to one of the district Territorial Recruitment and Social Support Centers, where, during a medical examination, he was recognized as fit for military service without restrictions and assigned to one of the units for further service,” the statement said.
