According to him, representatives of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, MPs, law enforcement officers, civil society activists, as well as companies operating in the weapons sales sector are expected to take part in the discussions.

Kostenko noted that the issue of firearms circulation is already partially regulated in Ukraine, and current legislation is among the most liberal in Europe.

At the same time, he emphasized that the issue of short-barreled weapons, particularly pistols, remains the most controversial.

According to the MP, the possibility of allowing the carrying of such weapons will likely be considered only after the end of martial law.

He added that he personally supports preparing the necessary infrastructure and legal framework so that the issue can be revisited after the war.
