Pensioners who permanently reside in a radiation-contaminated zone can receive an additional payment of 2,361 UAH per month to their pension. This amount will be added to their main pension, but not all pensioners will be eligible to receive this payment—only those who meet the established criteria.

Source: OBOZREVATEL

According to the “Government online” statement, the additional payment is intended for individuals who:

  • Live in the compulsory resettlement zone or the guaranteed voluntary resettlement zone;
  • Were in these zones at the time of the disaster (before April 26, 1986) or moved there before January 1, 1993;
  • Have the status of a person affected by the Chernobyl disaster and the corresponding certificate.

🚫 Working pensioners and those without the affected status are not eligible for this payment.

📝 How to confirm eligibility for the payment

Pensioners who want to receive the additional payment must undergo an automatic verification. No additional documents are required. The State Migration Service will check whether the individual actually lived in the contaminated zone. The data on this should be entered into the Unified State Register of Persons Affected by the Chernobyl Disaster.

If the data is missing from the Register, the person must contact the local department of the State Migration Service with documents confirming their residence in the resettlement zone from 1986 to 1993 (passport or house book).

💵 How the money will be credited

The additional payment will be credited monthly along with the pension and will be sent to the same account.

⚠️ When the payment may be canceled

The payment may be canceled if:

  • The person moved out of the contaminated zone;
  • The affected status was revoked or not confirmed;
  • The person moved to the zone after 1993;
  • The pensioner started working.

Data verification is automatic, and any changes in residence or status are recorded by the relevant authorities.
