Great Britain, France, and Germany support the initiative to create a European missile defense system with Ukraine’s participation, President Volodymyr Zelensky said in an interview with The Guardian.

According to the head of state, he continues to urge partners to strengthen the protection of Ukrainian airspace from mass Russian missile and drone attacks. In addition to supplying ballistic interceptors, Ukraine is also counting on financial support to gradually transition the Armed Forces to a contract-based model closer to European standards.
Zelensky noted that missiles for Patriot systems are extremely expensive — around $4 million per unit. He also pointed out that the United Kingdom does not have its own missile defense system, so European countries should jointly develop alternatives to U.S. systems.
The president stressed that Ukraine is ready to share its experience in countering drones with partners.
“We are working on this. It is needed for us, and it is needed for the United Kingdom,” Zelensky said.
In addition, during meetings with European leaders, agreements were reached on strengthening sanctions pressure on Russia.
