Source: Gazeta.UA
📢 The head of the Central Election Commission, Oleh Didenko, explained who is eligible to be a candidate in elections in Ukraine.
🚫 Citizens who have gone abroad and obtained protected status in other countries cannot run for office. The Constitution and the Electoral Code require candidates to have permanently resided in Ukraine for the last 5 or 10 years, depending on the type of election.
📌 Exceptions:
- Travel for medical treatment, education, or official business trips.
- Stays abroad not exceeding 180 days per year or 90 days at a time.
⚖️ A ban on candidacy also applies to members of prohibited parties, as such political forces cannot register electoral lists.
❗ At the same time, NSDC sanctions do not automatically prohibit participation in elections.
🧐 Didenko specifically mentioned Oleksiy Arestovych, stating that he would not be eligible to run since he left the country without official grounds for residence in Ukraine.
