🌐 The suspension of foreign aid programs by U.S. President Donald Trump has had a serious impact on the UN’s ability to monitor Iran’s nuclear activities. According to the New York Times, citing sources, the freezing of these programs has disrupted the work of the UN’s nuclear agency.

⚡ The report states that the suspension of two key programs, which provided support to international nuclear inspectors, was the main reason. Meanwhile, current and former U.S. nuclear experts point to an executive order signed by Trump on his first day in office as the primary cause. This order mandated a 90-day freeze on all U.S. foreign aid programs.
💥 The two blocked programs were instrumental in supporting the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA). They funded the training of nuclear inspectors and supplied equipment and laboratory tools for sample analysis.
🔄 One of these programs has already been restored, but the other remains frozen.
💬 The IAEA has refrained from commenting on the funding cuts. Meanwhile, the U.S. State Department, which oversees the funding, told the New York Times that “some assistance for programs supporting the IAEA’s nuclear inspection efforts, including in Iran, continues.” However, the department did not clarify whether the programs were entirely frozen or only partially reduced.
