🗣️ John Bolton, Trump’s National Security Advisor in 2018-2019, explained that the politician has a very limited understanding of Ukraine and the region’s history, which is why he does not see the difficulties that may arise. He shared this opinion in an interview with “Telegraph.”
💭 Bolton noted that Trump considers this conflict “Biden’s war” and aims for its swift end to restore good relations with the Russian dictator putin and russia.
💼 The former advisor suggested that Trump may try to negotiate deals with the russian federation, including regarding oil.
🧠 “Trump views the world through personal relationships. If he has a good relationship with putin, he believes there are good relations between the US and russia. If the relationship with the leader of a country is poor, it reflects in the relations between the US and that country,” explained Bolton.
📚 Bolton also added that Trump almost doesn’t understand the situation in Ukraine and does not see its complexities. He considered the war “senseless,” not understanding the importance of the fight for freedom and independence.
🔄 “Trump lacks a clear philosophy. He conducts policy without deep meaning, very transactionally, moving from one deal to another without a connection between them,” explained Bolton.
🛑 Bolton believes that even if putin agrees to a pause in the war, it will not mean giving up his ambitions to restore the Russian Empire.
💬 “Therefore, even if there is a pause now, it doesn’t mean the problem is solved because, in putin’s mind, he has not yet found the ‘right answer,'” added Bolton.
