Natalia Dmitrieva spent three days in Ukraine and left just a few days before the first meeting between the U.S. and russian delegations in Saudi Arabia. This was reported by journalist Katie Livingston, citing her own sources.
“Natalia Dmitrieva, the sister of the Kremlin’s chief negotiator Kirill Dmitriev, came to Ukraine recently in February 2025 — on an American passport, as several sources confirmed to me. Border records show that Dmitrieva entered Ukraine on February 8 and left on February 12, just days before negotiations between russia and the U.S. were scheduled to take place in Saudi Arabia on a possible settlement in Ukraine… Dmitrieva’s activity in Ukraine and the purpose of her visit remain unknown,” the report states.

Livingston added that one of the sources said Natalia Dmitrieva, together with her mother, Tamara Shevchenko, left Ukraine in early 2022, shortly after the full-scale invasion by the russian federation began. Both women previously held Ukrainian passports, but since February 2022 they have been entering Ukraine using U.S. passports.
How the relatives of putin’s negotiator obtained U.S. passports and whether they permanently reside in the country — the journalist was unable to determine.
“It also appears that the Dmitriev family may possess larger assets in Europe and Ukraine than was previously known,” Livingston suggested.
The journalist also reminded readers that before joining putin’s inner circle, Kirill Dmitriev had lived in the United States for over 10 years. There, he earned degrees from Stanford and Harvard Universities. However, he rose to the upper echelons of russian power not thanks to his prestigious education — or at least, not solely because of it.

“His wife is a close friend of putin’s daughter, and Dmitriev himself has enjoyed deep Kremlin trust for years. He currently heads the Russian Direct Investment Fund and plays a key role representing Moscow in peace negotiations between Washington, Kyiv, and Moscow — a role built on his business background. While Kirill’s ties to the U.S. are well known, the apparent American citizenship of his sister and mother is new. Natalia’s recent visits to Ukraine are also unexpected,” Livingston noted, announcing that more details about Dmitriev’s relatives and their connections to Ukraine and the U.S. will be revealed soon.
