💬 During the conference “Italian Foreign Policy During Trump’s Era,” D’Alema shared that his meeting with Zelensky took place at an event dedicated to the Balkans. The Ukrainian leader asked to find out whether China and Brazil were ready to help Ukraine in its struggle against russia.
⚠️ According to the former Prime Minister of Italy, Zelensky expressed concern about the possible withdrawal of the U.S. from supporting Ukraine and the unreliability of European partners.
🇧🇷 In Brazil, President Lula da Silva reacted negatively to the initiative, stating that the war in Ukraine is a problem for the U.S., and Italy should focus more on the situation in Palestine.
🇨🇳 In China, on the other hand, the concept of an international peacekeeping mission, similar to the one that operated in Kosovo, was presented. A Chinese diplomat noted that Europe mostly appeals with requests not to support russia but does not discuss specific solutions.
🔍 As La Repubblica reports, the results of this “secret mission” remain unknown. At the same time, D’Alema emphasized that China cannot be blamed for the war in Ukraine.
🏛️ The former Prime Minister also criticized Europe, accusing it of allegedly pushing for a war in which no side’s victory was guaranteed.
