🇺🇸 The project aims to decrease reliance on American intelligence, especially after President Donald Trump temporarily halted intelligence data sharing with Ukraine.
🛰️ The new satellite system, which will operate in low Earth orbit, will allow the EU to more effectively detect threats, such as troop movements, and coordinate military operations.
💡 European Commissioner for Defense and Space, Andrius Kubilius, noted that this initiative will accelerate the acquisition of geospatial intelligence, as existing satellites, such as Copernicus, update data only once a day.
💰 Kubilius acknowledged the high cost of the project but emphasized its strategic importance for Europe’s security.
