⚔️ The aggressor country has made headlines again. Now, there is talk about the necessity of introducing “military training” in schools – not even in senior grades, but starting from the fifth grade, meaning children as young as 10-11 years old. This could also affect young Ukrainians in temporarily occupied territories, where Russian occupiers plan to train them to fight against their own country.

Targeting 10-year-olds
The initiative for this “innovation” came from Viktor Vodolatsky, the first deputy chairman of the State Duma’s committee on CIS affairs, Eurasian integration, and relations with compatriots.
“After the events in the Kursk region, we need to revive basic military training in schools because children need to protect themselves and their families. Therefore, we need to start military training in every school from the 5th grade, not the 9th or 10th, but from the 5th grade. And then our population will be ready for any actions, any provocations,” said the United Russia member, who is under sanctions from the U.S., EU, and other countries.

💢 Even the residents of the Russian border areas, where combat operations have been ongoing since August 2024, did not appreciate this “surprise.” Now, there is an outpouring of angry messages in local social media groups.
“Well, no. There are military schools, if someone wants, let them go there. And they can add extra-curricular activities for those who really want it. But for all children, especially from the 5th grade, no! What is this even for? Are we supposed to be preparing for something?” – wrote a local resident.

😂 “And instead of a kindergarten for boys, let’s create a children’s army, so by the time they’re 7, they’ll be ready for anything. And by 18, they’ll be flawless, battle-hardened warriors of royal blood,” – another local resident from Kursk sarcastically reacted.

😤 “Some people recalled how the heavily armed Kadyrovites from ‘Akhmat’ fled from the border with Ukraine: ‘These tough guys couldn’t do anything, they hid, and now they’re planning to prepare our kids for what?!'”

Personnel reserve
The situation will, of course, affect the temporarily occupied part of Ukraine. Militarization of Ukrainian children, who have become hostages of Russian invaders, is already in full swing there.
They are forced to join the “Yunarmiya”, the “Ahmat Peoples’ Friendship Academy”, and other “military-patriotic” organizations. All of this is nothing but an attempt by the aggressor to create a personnel reserve for the future.
The Ukrainian Center for National Resistance unequivocally regards this as a crime.
“The occupiers do not hide it: they are preparing children not for the future, but for death. The State Duma directly stated that students must be ‘ready for war’. The Kremlin wants to raise a generation of cannon fodder for their expansionist plans. Children are taught not to build life, but to prepare for killing – this is a crime against humanity,” say representatives of the CNS.
They added that this is also how it was done in Nazi Germany: the regime prepared children for war, then threw them to the front.
According to sources from OBOZ.UA in the occupied part of the Zaporizhzhia region, brainwashing of children is happening in absolutely every school.
“They instill thoughts about the exceptionalism and superiority of Russians, speak degradingly about Ukraine and the countries of the collective West – creating an image of the enemy. They also constantly bring ‘heroes of the special military operation’ to the students. Not only did they kill Ukrainians, but they are often criminals – particularly due to murders of Russian citizens,” says Olena.

Saving Ukrainian children from criminal influence can, of course, only be done after de-occupation. However, there are also questions for the parents who have not yet evacuated their daughters and sons to the free territory.
