🌍 NATO leaders should discuss increasing defense spending to 3–3.5% of GDP at their upcoming summit in The Hague. According to Lithuania’s Foreign Minister, Kęstutis Budrys, this would be a more adequate step to meet the Alliance’s needs compared to the current 2%.

⚔️ “Words will not stop Russia, which is driven by imperialist ambitions. Only NATO’s military strength can do that,” Budrys emphasized, highlighting the importance of military readiness to defend Europe. He also noted that Europe must do its “homework” and be ambitious in increasing defense spending.
💪 Lithuania’s Foreign Minister also pointed out that each NATO member country must take responsibility and demonstrate a firm commitment to collective security by funding defense measures. “This can only be achieved by allocating funds and making defense a priority,” he added.
🔔 Additionally, Budrys believes that the Kremlin must receive a clear signal that NATO has become stronger after the change in U.S. leadership. “This should serve as a deterrent signal to Russia that the Alliance has not weakened but has become stronger,” he concluded.
