President Volodymyr Zelensky stated that China is not seeking to end the war that Russia continues to wage against Ukraine. He said this during a conversation with journalists, as reported by Radio Liberty.

According to the president, Beijing’s strategic doctrine is based on global confrontation with the United States, where current president Donald Trump is increasing political and economic pressure on China. In such a configuration, a “weak or defeated Russia” does not align with Beijing’s interests.
Zelensky emphasized that China has significant influence over Russia and personally over Vladimir Putin, yet shows no interest in stopping the war.
The head of state added that because of Beijing’s position, Ukrainians continue to suffer. He also noted that despite the lack of open support for Moscow, there are reports about China supplying machinery and equipment for the needs of the Russian defense-industrial complex.
