🧳 According to the South China Morning Post, the Chinese delegation will be led by Premier of the State Council Li Qiang. The reason for Xi’s absence was cited as a scheduling conflict, which Beijing has already communicated to the Brazilian government.

🗨️ Chinese Foreign Ministry representative Guo Jiakun stated that information about Xi Jinping’s participation would be provided “at the appropriate time.” However, officials involved in summit preparations emphasized that Xi has already met twice with Brazilian President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva over the past year — at the G20 summit in November 2024 and again in May 2025.

🤝 The BRICS summit in Brazil is expected to host representatives from key Global South countries, and Xi Jinping’s absence may impact the dynamics of negotiations and the shaping of new economic initiatives within the bloc.
