💬 We find it difficult to understand why Latvia stands on Ukraine’s side rather than Hungary’s, – Orbán

🇪🇺 ЄС може обійти блокування Угорщини, якщо Орбан залишиться при владі

Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orbán responded on the social media platform X to his Latvian counterpart, Evika Siliņa, who criticized Budapest’s position on blocking an EU loan of €90 billion for Ukraine.

Orbán emphasized that Hungary is acting in accordance with the EU agreement from December 2025, when Ukraine was still fulfilling its obligations under the Association Agreement and had not blocked the supply of Russian oil to the country. Since then, according to the Hungarian prime minister, Kyiv has imposed an oil blockade on Hungary, creating a threat to the country’s economy.

“You cannot ask me to support an EU loan for a country that illegally changed the agreed terms,” Orbán said, adding that Latvia should have addressed President Zelensky to demand the removal of the oil blockade.

The Hungarian prime minister stressed that his country’s position is legally justified, morally right, and politically sensible.
