Ukrainian intelligence services carried out a unique joint operation on Russian territory, during which one of three Russian medium-range ballistic missiles, the “Oreshnik,” was destroyed. According to him, the operation involved forces from the Main Intelligence Directorate (HUR) of the Ministry of Defense, the Security Service of Ukraine (SBU), and the Foreign Intelligence Service (SZR). The destruction of the missile took place at the Kapustin Yar testing ground in Russia. “We can briefly and clearly say that one of the three ‘Oreshnik’ missiles was successfully eliminated on their territory by the combined efforts of HUR, SBU, and SZR,” Maliuk emphasized.

The SBU chief confirmed that they obtained 100% proof of the missile’s destruction. “It was an extremely successful operation. It was reported directly to the Supreme Commander-in-Chief, President Zelensky, and was also known to several presidents of other countries,” he added.

The operation was conducted the summer before last when the name “Oreshnik” was not yet known even among military experts, and the Russian side had not used it in official rhetoric. “We did it before anyone had even heard of the ‘Oreshnik’,” Maliuk stressed.

This success of the Ukrainian intelligence services became further evidence of the high level of coordination and professionalism of Ukraine’s defense forces. In Washington, President Donald Trump’s administration welcomed the effectiveness of Ukraine’s actions, emphasizing that U.S. support for Kyiv in its fight against Russian aggression remains unwavering.
