The United States has completed the first sale of Venezuelan oil under a $2 billion agreement concluded between Caracas and Washington, an American official reported.

According to him, additional sales are expected in the coming days and weeks. Revenues from the first stage of the oil sale amounted to about $500 million.
The funds received are being kept in bank accounts under the control of the U.S. government. The main account is located in Qatar, a source familiar with the plan said.
According to the source, Qatar was chosen as a neutral platform where financial resources can be moved only with U.S. approval and without the risk of their confiscation.
