The document provides for the section “Expansion and Modification of the Ukraine Security Assistance Initiative,” which allocates an additional 400 million dollars for 2026 and another 400 million for 2027. The total U.S. defense budget for 2026 will amount to 901 billion dollars, while President Donald Trump had previously proposed 892.6 billion.

The bill also includes a requirement to assess Russia’s military strategy, objectives, and force posture that affect countries in the Indo-Pacific region, including China, and to prepare an analysis of cooperation between China, Russia, Iran, and North Korea in the diplomatic, informational, military, and economic spheres.

According to The Hill, the House of Representatives may vote on the NDAA soon. International media note that the previous U.S. peace proposal envisaged a reduction in military assistance to Ukraine, which is crucial for countering Russian aggression.
