🛑 The attempt to undermine the independence of NABU has raised concerns among EU partners and could seriously hinder Ukraine’s EU accession negotiations.
📺 This was stated by Member of Parliament Ivanna Klympush-Tsintsadze on the air of “Espreso”. She emphasized that “pretending nothing happened won’t work,” as European partners clearly point out: such actions by the Ukrainian government are a blow to the pace of European integration.
🧐 Now, according to her, the EU will scrutinize Ukrainian legislation more closely during screening assessments to ensure compliance with European standards. There is a risk that Ukraine will not move forward, but rather slide backward.
📄 She also stressed that NABU’s independence is a key requirement of the “roadmap” already agreed upon with the European Commission. Now the document will have to be revised, which may undermine the EU’s trust in Ukraine.
💬 “This will have a very negative impact on the speed, the pace, and most importantly, on the trust — which is very difficult to earn,” the MP concluded.
