The European Union is a peace project and has never allowed military actions on its territory, therefore Ukraine should join the EU as soon as possible. This was stated by European Commissioner for Enlargement Marta Kos.

According to her, the key values of the European Union remain peace, freedom, prosperity, and security. She emphasized that despite wars in Europe in the past — including in the Balkans, Croatia, and Bosnia — hostilities never took place directly on EU territory.
Marta Kos stressed that it is precisely the peaceful nature of the European Union that is the reason for its readiness to accept Ukraine into its membership as soon as possible.
