Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Oleksandr Syrskyi took part in the Ukraine–NATO Council meeting at the level of chiefs of defence at NATO headquarters in Brussels and briefed partners on the current situation at the front. He also announced an assessment of Russian military losses, according to his Telegram channel.

According to Syrskyi, since the beginning of 2026, Russia’s total losses have already exceeded 141,500 personnel, of which more than 83,000 are irreversible.
The Commander-in-Chief emphasized that daily Russian army losses amount to at least 1,000 soldiers killed and wounded. He stressed that this dynamic is the result of the “active defense” tactics used by Ukraine’s Defense Forces.
“Ukraine today is defending not only itself — we are defending the future of the entire Euro-Atlantic space,” Syrskyi said.
He added that unmanned systems units play an important role in deterring the enemy, thanks to which Russia, according to him, has been losing more manpower than it can mobilize for several months in a row.
Separately, Syrskyi reported an increase in Ukrainian strikes deep in Russian rear areas thanks to the development of Middle Strike-type drones.
He also noted that Ukraine is achieving results in suppressing Russian air defenses at close range, which allows for more effective strikes on logistics hubs, oil refineries, and defense-industrial facilities in Russia.
