This was stated by the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, General Oleksandr Syrsky, in an interview with The Washington Post. He emphasized that the occupiers spare nothing and shell everything they see on Ukrainian territory.

“They target almost everything — airfields, populated areas, infrastructure facilities. Therefore, of course, we need deliveries of ballistic missiles to be able to give the enemy a worthy rebuff,” Syrsky said.

Which weapons does Ukraine need?

According to him, new deliveries of air defense systems, including American Patriot missiles, interceptor drones, and light aviation for fighting UAVs, could significantly reduce the effectiveness of Russian attacks. Moreover, providing a greater number of medium- and long-range missiles, such as American ATACMS and German Taurus, without restrictions on their use, would allow Ukraine to strike critical Russian infrastructure that supports the production of enemy missiles and drones, thereby slowing down the Russian war machine.

“The presence of any missile weaponry itself is a deterrent factor. I hope that thanks to President Trump’s position, this process will be much easier and… we will not have any difficulties that we had before,” the Commander-in-Chief explained.

He did not specify whether Ukraine still has powerful ATACMS systems despite the widespread belief that their stockpiles are depleted. When asked if new deliveries of American missiles can save Ukrainian lives, he replied briefly: “Of course.”

At the same time, according to him, the Armed Forces of Ukraine, which are numerically inferior to the enemy on the frontline, experience shortages not only of air defense systems and missiles but also of 155mm artillery shells. He also stressed that new deliveries of armored vehicles are critically necessary.

“We have highly motivated and brave soldiers who can advance, but they need modern, reliable means of protection,” Syrsky said.
