US Secretary of State Marco Rubio said that Washington is considering various options regarding Cuba, including potential military scenarios, although diplomatic resolution remains the priority. He made the comments in an interview cited by The Guardian.

According to Rubio, US President Donald Trump prefers a peaceful agreement reached through negotiations, and this approach remains a key element of American policy toward Cuba.
“This is always our priority. It remains our priority regarding Cuba,” the Secretary of State said.
At the same time, he acknowledged that the prospects for a diplomatic settlement remain limited.
“I’m just being honest with you: the likelihood that this will happen, given who we are dealing with right now, is low,” Rubio added.
Commenting on the possibility of using force to change the political situation in Cuba, the Secretary of State stressed that the US is primarily focused on diplomacy, but does not rule out other tools of influence. He noted that the US President has all necessary instruments to protect national interests.
