Russian President Vladimir Putin has almost no chance of ending the war without significant losses, as key external players are not interested in restoring Russia’s imperial status. This was stated to Gazeta.ua by Oleg Bereziuk, Director of the Institute of Global Policy.

“Neither China nor the European Union wants this. Therefore, the Russians understand that they will not be able to end the so-called ‘special military operation’ as they planned, because there is no chance of restoring imperial status,” the expert said.
He also emphasized that Europe is not interested in returning Ukraine to Russia’s sphere of influence.
Thus, according to Bereziuk’s assessment, the geopolitical situation significantly limits the Kremlin’s ability to exit the war on favorable terms.
