Starting April 1, 2026, Poland will stop recognizing five-year Russian foreign passports that do not contain a biometric chip. This means holders of such documents will be unable to enter the country.

Additionally, from January 1, 2026, Poland will no longer recognize Russian diplomatic and service passports without a biometric chip, which will also block their holders at the border.

By 2025, similar restrictions were introduced by Lithuania, Latvia, Estonia, France, the Czech Republic, Denmark, and Iceland. Starting next year, Romania and Germany will join the list.

This measure is part of a broader European policy to restrict entry for Russians with non-biometric documents.
