This was announced on Monday, June 23, via the official account of the Norwegian Ministry of Defence on social network X. The statement was made by Norwegian Defense Minister Tore O. Sandvik, who is on an official visit to Ukraine.
It is noted that the Norwegian government has allocated about 6.7 billion Norwegian kroner (580 million euros) to support the “maritime coalition,” which the country leads jointly with the United Kingdom.
“Part of these funds will go toward the development and production of unmanned maritime vessels using Kongsberg Defence & Aerospace (KDA) technologies, with manufacturing to be based in Ukraine,” said the minister.
The ministry added that the defense company KDA has signed an agreement with a Ukrainian partner for the joint development and production of surface drones in Ukraine using Norwegian technology and expertise.
“Surface drones play a crucial role in helping Ukraine defend its territory and neutralize the russian fleet in the Black Sea,” the defense ministry concluded.
