💰 New Payments for Released Prisoners of War: 50,000 Hryvnias per Month for Treatment

💰 Нові виплати для звільнених з полону військових: по 50 тисяч гривень щомісяця на лікування

In Ukraine, service members who remain in inpatient treatment for more than 30 days after being released from captivity will receive monthly assistance of 50,000 hryvnias during the first three months of treatment. This was announced by MP Yaroslav Zhelezniak (“Holos”). The bill was supported by 244 deputies.

Previously, state aid was provided only to soldiers with injuries, concussions, or disabilities. The new legislation now also covers those requiring treatment for serious illnesses or the consequences of captivity — both physical and psychological.

The changes aim to provide social support, accelerate recovery, and ensure financial stability for service members during the critical period after their release.

The bill also simplifies the process of obtaining certificates for injuries and illnesses sustained during captivity. This will help reduce bureaucracy, speed up payment processing, and ensure timely assistance.

The Ministry of Health has already updated the list of medical facilities providing medical, rehabilitation, and psychological support. Meanwhile, the Ministry of Defense is proposing longer leave periods and additional payments for released soldiers to support their full social and psychological rehabilitation.
