In Ukraine, there is a recorded increase in the number of killed and captured foreign mercenaries fighting on the side of Russia.

In particular, recently the Defense Forces eliminated a citizen of Kenya who took part in combat operations within Russian units.
This was reported by Ukraine’s Minister of Foreign Affairs Andrii Sybiha, who called on the governments of African countries to strengthen measures against the recruitment of their citizens by Russia.
According to him, such cases indicate violations of agreements by the Russian Federation and the use of foreigners in combat operations without proper safety guarantees.
Sybiha stressed that governments of African countries need not seek explanations from Moscow, but rather decisively counter the illegal recruitment of their citizens.
According to Ukrainian authorities, in the Kharkiv region the Defense Forces destroyed a group of Kenyan mercenaries who were part of Russian forces.
It is reported that some of them arrived in Russia at the end of October 2025, after which they signed contracts and underwent short training, and were later sent to the front, where they were killed during assault operations.
