The parliamentary faction’s foreign policy spokesperson, Jürgen Hardt, called this “simply unthinkable.” He emphasized that any Ukrainian retreat could be misinterpreted by Russian President Vladimir Putin as a sign of weakness.
Hardt added that even after a potential ceasefire, Russia could quickly find a pretext to resume attacks to achieve its ultimate goal—control over all of Ukraine.
