The Chief Rabbi of Ukraine, Moshe Asman, responded to a publication by the Russian propaganda channel Russia Today, which labeled the head of the Main Intelligence Directorate, Kyrylo Budanov, a “Nazi,” using a photo from the rabbi’s personal post.

Asman emphasized that Ukrainians have long been accustomed to such accusations from Russian propaganda; however, this time he decided to respond because RT actively works with an English-speaking audience worldwide, particularly in the United States, and has millions of followers on social media.
The rabbi clearly outlined who should truly be considered Nazis, listing Russia’s war crimes: the killing of civilians, the bombing of Ukrainian cities, torture and executions of civilians and prisoners of war, the destruction of entire settlements, and the deportation of Ukrainian children.
He cited specific examples of the dead — victims of Russian aggression, including members of the Jewish community — stressing that these actions are manifestations of Nazism, not the defense of Ukraine from an aggressor.
Separately, Moshe Asman condemned Russia’s support for Hamas, Hezbollah, and the Iranian regime, which openly calls for the destruction of the Jewish people and assists Russia with Shahed drones in the war against Ukraine.
