Hungarian Foreign Minister Péter Szijjártó stated that Budapest will not stop purchasing Russian oil, even if demanded by U.S. President Donald Trump, Bloomberg reports.

Szijjártó explained that Hungary is landlocked, limiting its access to global energy resources.
“We are a nation without access to the sea. It would be great if we had access to the sea; we could build a refinery or an LNG terminal and connect to the global market. But that’s not the case,” the minister said.
He emphasized that geographic constraints shape the country’s energy policy and make a complete withdrawal from Russian oil impossible.
