The head of the Hungarian community in Kyiv and the region, Tibor Tompa, believes that the current Hungarian government is not seeking effective dialogue with Kyiv and will continue to make new demands.

Last year, Ukraine fulfilled 11 major demands from the Hungarian side, including: the use of the Hungarian language in over 100 schools in Zakarpattia, the ability to communicate in Hungarian in everyday life, the duplication of settlement names in Hungarian, and representation of Hungarians in local government bodies.
The last requirement regarding the absence of mandatory Ukrainian language knowledge among school and government leaders has also been effectively implemented, as Hungarian dominates locally. Tompa emphasized that after these points are met, Budapest could issue 27 more, and then 37 additional demands.
He added that as long as Prime Minister Viktor Orbán remains in power, effective cooperation with Ukraine should not be expected.
