📞 During a phone conversation on August 7, German Chancellor Friedrich Merz assured Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky that Germany will continue to support Kyiv in its pursuit of peace.

The statement was made by German government spokesperson Stefan Cornelius.
According to him, the two leaders discussed current developments following the meeting between U.S. special envoy Steve Witkoff and putin.
Merz and Zelensky praised the mediation efforts of U.S. President Donald Trump and emphasized the need to end russia’s war of aggression, which constitutes a violation of international law.
“Both agreed to maintain close contact with European partners and the United States. The Chancellor assured the President of Ukraine of his unwavering support,” Cornelius said.
