SAP Head Oleksandr Klymenko explained in an interview with Deutsche Welle that extradition requests are a complex process that requires time and confidentiality to prevent the person being sought from changing their location.
He noted that the first request was sent at the end of February, but due to numerous deficiencies and the need to translate materials, it was revised and resent after the Prosecutor General’s signature.
Klymenko also clarified that investigative actions abroad are only possible through cooperation with local law enforcement agencies or international requests—Ukrainian detectives do not have the authority to act directly on the territory of other countries.
