🏦 Additionally, on August 8, another part of the sanctions package will be enforced — a ban on financial operations involving 22 additional Russian banks, further restricting russia’s access to the international financial system.

📉 Within the sanctions, the price cap on Russian oil has been reduced from $60 to $47.6 per barrel. An automatic and dynamic mechanism for setting future price limits has also been introduced — enabling swift responses to changing market conditions.

📅 Most provisions of the 18th sanctions package began to take effect in mid-July after approval by the EU Council. The new restrictions have already been called some of the toughest since the war began.

🇷🇺 The Kremlin has expressed outrage, particularly over international pressure on India, one of the largest buyers of Russian oil. In response, the EU is strengthening control over sanctions evasion.

🔒 Brussels’ new steps show an intent to minimize russia’s energy revenues, which finance its aggression against Ukraine.
