In response to a question regarding Ukraine’s proposal for a ceasefire starting May 6, the Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson emphasized the need to create conditions for a political settlement of the conflict.
“China calls on all parties to the conflict to make maximum efforts to create conditions for a political settlement through dialogue and negotiations,” Lin Jian said.
Beijing has traditionally emphasized the need for a diplomatic resolution to the war and refrains from directly supporting military actions by either side.
