Due to delays in international aid, Ukraine risks running out of funding for defense expenses as early as June, reports Bloomberg. According to sources, the problems have arisen because of delays in financial support from key partners, Hungary’s blocking of the €90 billion EU aid package, disputes over the IMF program, and the slowdown of NATO initiatives.

Head of the National Bank Andriy Pyshnyi noted that without international financing, the regulator may return to directly lending to the Ministry of Finance to pay military salaries and provide basic services.
President Volodymyr Zelensky emphasized that underfunding could affect drone production and the procurement of air defense systems.
At the same time, European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen assured that the EU will provide funds to Ukraine as planned. According to government estimates, Ukraine will need about $52 billion in external aid in 2026 to cover budgetary needs.
