Several Republican senators have appealed to U.S. President Donald Trump with a demand to confiscate Russian assets frozen in the United States and transfer them to Ukraine.

This is stated in a letter obtained by “European Pravda.” The document was signed by Senators Jim Risch, Roger Wicker, John Kennedy, and Rick Scott.
In the letter, they urge Trump to use the powers provided by the REPO Act and, in coordination with the G7 countries and European allies, transfer to Ukraine all Russian sovereign assets frozen in the United States.
The senators emphasize that this would allow the unlocking of about $162 billion in Russian assets immobilized in the EU, which could be directed toward the purchase of American weapons for Ukraine.
Separately, they call on Secretary of State Marco Rubio and Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent to immediately begin the procedure for confiscating approximately $5 billion in Russian assets frozen in the United States.
The letter also notes that even in the event of reaching a peace agreement, Ukraine will need further modernization of its Armed Forces, and the use of these funds would simultaneously strengthen Ukraine’s defense capabilities and stimulate the development of the U.S. defense industry.
