✍️ Journalist Yevhen Lesnoy told about this in the article “Personal experience of working in the telemarathon ‘United News’” for the site “Detector Media.”

🕰️ “This text is exclusively my personal experience of one and a half years of work within the telemarathon ‘United News.’ Due to signed non-disclosure agreements about financial and other information, I cannot talk about the channel, but I believe the situation there does not differ from other Ukrainian TV channels that produce content for the marathon with state funds,” the journalist noted.
📋 “At first, there was no reason for concern. I was not assigned to shoot openly pro-government stories, and I invited speakers from my own professional contacts. But then it became more difficult: the chief editor constantly asked who exactly I planned to film. One of the anchors advised me to ‘play by the rules’ — supposedly, lawyer Yaroslav Kuts is ‘Poroshenko’s man,’ and such people should not be shown,” Yevhen Lesnoy shared.
🚫 “The topic of ‘European Solidarity’ is completely banned. The director and chief editor clearly told me: ‘They have their own TV channels — they cannot be on ours.’ I ignored the bans and filmed both Kuts and political scientist Yevhen Magda, but every appearance of a disagreeable expert caused disputes with editors. All conversations in the editorial office took place in Russian,” he added.
⚠️ “The marathon does not welcome speakers who criticize the authorities. Information producers constantly asked the chief editor whether it was allowed to take comments from this or that expert, and the answer came ‘from above.’ When journalistic soundbites are cut to complete anonymization — that is censorship, and journalism loses its meaning,” the journalist emphasized.
