💬 According to The Hill, during recent talks in Saudi Arabia, russia put forward tough conditions, including demanding a change of power in Kyiv and the lifting of international sanctions, which significantly complicates the negotiation process.
💰 The kremlin is also insisting on US assistance in lifting restrictions on russian banks and easing the export of russian fertilizers and agricultural products. In response, Trump threatened to impose new sanctions on the russian energy sector if moscow does not show flexibility.
🛡️ Ukraine supported the US initiative for an unconditional 30-day ceasefire, cessation of attacks on energy infrastructure, and a reduction of military activity in the Black Sea. However, russia is currently not ready to take such steps.
🏛️ Despite Trump’s desire to reach an agreement, some of the American political establishment remains cautious. Senator Lindsey Graham expressed doubts about russia’s willingness to genuinely cease hostilities.
⚔️ Experts emphasize that the most effective pressure on putin remains Ukraine’s military resistance. George Barros from the Institute for the Study of War noted that the prolonged war is exhausting russian resources and weakening the kremlin’s position.
🔥 The situation remains tense, and Trump faces a choice: agree to russia’s demands or escalate pressure, including increasing military aid to Ukraine.
