🛰 NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte stated that the Alliance is concerned about moscow’s intentions regarding the possible placement of nuclear weapons in space. According to him, these actions contradict the 1967 Outer Space Treaty, which provides for the exclusively peaceful use of outer space.

💥 Rutte explained that this is not about a threat to Earth, but about a potential anti-satellite weapon. The destruction or damage of satellites could destabilize communication, navigation, and control systems that are critically important for both civilian and military infrastructure.
🌌 The head of the Alliance emphasized that space is increasingly becoming an arena of geopolitical rivalry, and NATO has already expanded Article 5 provisions to include possible attacks in outer space.
📉 Rutte also stressed that russia’s space technologies are outdated, and that is why the kremlin may seek to strengthen its position through threats instead of real progress.
