💬 He shared this in a comment to CNN ahead of today’s scheduled talks between U.S. and Russian Presidents – Donald Trump and Vladimir Putin.
🤝 Rutte also noted that on March 11, U.S. and Ukrainian delegations agreed to a 30-day ceasefire during negotiations in Saudi Arabia.
🔴 Regarding Putin, NATO’s Secretary General is confident that Trump knows the Russian president well and does not trust him too much.
💭 “Trump knows Putin very well from his first term. So he knows how to make sure he can strike a deal. I fully trust that,” Rutte said.
📝 Meanwhile, Trump announced on his social media platform Truth Social that several elements of a peace agreement with Russia have already been agreed upon.
⚔️ However, former commander of the U.S. Army in Europe, Ben Hodges, criticized Trump’s peace plan to end the war in Ukraine, describing it as a “capitulation” of Kyiv to Moscow.
⏳ Media reports suggest that Putin will agree to a 30-day ceasefire only if allies do not supply weapons to Ukraine during this period.
